Aromatherapy Concentrate for Painful Periods

Ingredients:
10 drops rosemary essential oil
15 drops lavender essential oil
15 drops sweet marjoram essential oil

Preparation:
Put the essential oils into a dark glass bottle and shake well. For the following applications, dispense using a pipette or eye dropper (available from pharmacies).

How to use this Concentrate?

Bath: Add eight drops of the concentrate to your bath.

Massage: 25ml sweet almond oil, 10 drops of the concentrate. Immediately after your bath or shower, smooth a little of the oil into your abdomen, then do feather-light stroking with your fingertips downwards over the abdomen for about five minutes.

This movement will help alleviate pain and congestion. Ideally ask a friend or partner to do the feather-light massage for you. This will enable you to lie back and relax with your knees bent (supported by cushions) to ease any pain in the lumbar region.

Hot Compress: For some women, this method is the most effective. Put about a liter of comfortably hot water in a basin, then add five drops of the concentrate and swish around to disperse. Soak a hand towel in the water, wring out the excess and apply to the abdomen. Cover the compress with a dry, folded towel (or use a sheet of cling film) to conserve the heat. As soon as the compress cools to body temperature, reapply if necessary

If you have ringworm on both body and scalp, it may be easier to use this dual purpose lotion. Calendula and myrrh tinctures are available from herbal suppliers.

25ml calendula tincture
25ml myrrh tincture

Funnel the tinctures into a dark glass bottle and shake well. For treating ringworm on the body; apply undiluted three times a day (using damp cotton wool). For scalp treatment, add three teaspoons of the tincture to 30ml water and gently massage into the scalp twice a day; including after shampooing.
