Aromatherapy Treatments for Common Colds

Ingredients:
15 drops eucalyptus essential oil
(or use myrtle oil for children under 10 years)
15 drops sweet marjoram essential oil
10 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops rosemary essential oil

Preparation and Usage:
Put the essential oils into a small dark glass bottle and shake well.

Add four drops of the concentrate to a bowl of almost boiling water, two drops for children over five years. Cover your head and the bowl with a towel to form a tent and inhale the aromatic vapour for five minutes. Carry out the treatment two to three times daily.

Avoid steam inhalations if you have asthma.

Aromatherapy Treatments for Cuts & Grazes

Ingredients:
600ml water
2 drops eucalyptus (or tea tree) essential oil
2 drops lemon essential oil
2 drops lavender essential oil

Preparation Method and Usage:
Put the water in a bowl, add the essential oils and swish around to disperse. Soak a clean piece of folded cotton fabric in the water, wring out the excess and apply to the wound. Hold the compress in place for 10 minutes. Afterwards, if necessary, cover the wound with a bandage or plaster to protect it.

Aromatherapy Recipes for Burns & Scalds

Ingredients:
20ml macerated calendula oil
20ml macerated hypericum oil
3 drops lavender (or tea tree) essential oil

Preparation Method:
Funnel the macerated oils into a dark glass bottle, add the essential oil and shake well to disperse. Smooth into the affected areas two or three times daily for as long as required.

Aromatherapy Ointment for Bruises

Ingredients:
25g unperfumed skin cream (available from pharmacies)
5ml calendula tincture
2 drops helichrysum essential oil
2 drops Roman chamomile essential oil
3 drops lavender essential oil

Preparation:
Put the unperfumed skin cream into a little glass pot, then add the tincture and essential oils and stir until thoroughly mixed. Apply two or three times daily
